Workshop on Investor Awareness 23

A One day workshop on Mutual Funds and BSE Capital market awareness was conducted at Besant evening college for the B.com students on 27th April 2023, Friday from 1.30 PM - 4.30 PM. 67 students attended the session. Mr.Ramachandra Bhat was the resource person. Mr. Ramchandra Bhat is a Post Graduate in Commerce and handles Commerce subjects in one of the prominent Institution in Karnataka. He has been invited by various Institutions as a Speaker on varied topics. Among the key areas that his vast domain expertise spans include managing different responsibilities apart from being a professor. Mr.Harish Pai extended words of welcome to the resource person and introduced him to the gathering. Mr.Ramachandra Bhat started the session by explaining the impact of inflation and gave basic explanation about mutual funds and made the students understand how mutual funds work. He then briefed about equity schemes, Debt schemes and Hybrid schemes. Students were taught the risk/return hierarchy. Mr.Ramachandra then focused on SIP and explained how it could be beneficial to invest in SIP.

In the second session Mr.Ramachandra Bhat elucidated how capital market operates. Clear cut explanation was given about the power of compounding. He then briefed Do's and don'ts for investors including rights of investors. New initiatives taken by BSE was focused towards the end of the workshop. Mr.Mustafa proposed the vote of thanks.
