Workshop on Gender Law

Thewomen’s cell of the college in association with the Centre for Women’sStudies, Mangalore University organized a workshop on “Gender andLaw” on 30th September, 2019 in M.Com Auditorium. Dr Lakshminarayana Bhat, Principalof the college welcomed the guests and gathering. TheChief Guest of the function Dr Anitha Ravishankar, Director, Centre for WomenStudies, Mangalore University addressed the gathering and gave briefinformation about the workshop. Then the session was engaged by theresource person, Ms Merly Martis. Sheexplained about the various legal provisions in the constitution for safeguardingthe rights of the women. She also provided the information regarding thevarious Acts which are recently incorporated in order to safe guard the rightsof girl children. She also explained about various real cases regarding sexualharassment at work place and their consequences as per law. There was also adiscussion various other issues relating to sexual harassment. Thesession concluded with the interaction between students, resource person MsMerly Martis and Dr Anitha Ravishankar. Teachingand non teaching staff, UG and PG students participated in the workshop.
