Women's Day Celebration

The Women's Cell of Besant Evening College organized a vibrant International Women's Day celebration on March 8, 2025. The event aimed to honor the achievements of women and promote gender equality.

The program was convened by Ms. Amitha Kumari B, with Ms. Sunanda Konchady advocate and proud alumni as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Ms. Lalitha Mallya, the Correspondent of Besant Evening college and Mr. Gopalraddy Ritti, HOD of Commerce, graced the occasion with his presence.

A special felicitation ceremony was held to honor both Ms. Lalitha Mallya and Ms. Sunanda Konchady for their contributions and leadership.

Ms. Sunanda Konchady, in her keynote address, highlighted the progress women have made and the challenges that still exist. She emphasized the importance of women's education in shaping a progressive society and shared heartfelt experiences of her time at Besant Evening College, recalling how her education and support from teachers and family shaped her career and personal growth. Her speech resonated deeply with students and faculty alike, motivating them to embrace education as a powerful tool for empowerment.

Ms. Lalitha Mallya, the President, addressed the gathering with thought-provoking insights. She discussed: Why International Men's Day is not widely celebrated, emphasizing that gender equality efforts primarily focus on addressing historical injustices faced by women. The theme of Women's Day 2025, reinforcing its significance in advocating for women's rights and empowerment. The meaning of the color purple, symbolizing honesty, wisdom, and dignity, which aligns with the values women bring to society. The harsh realities of women's exploitation, urging society to work together to eliminate gender-based violence and discrimination.The need for financial independence, stressing that women must be economically self-sufficient to gain confidence and autonomy. The importance of physical strength, encouraging women to focus on their health and self-defense to lead strong and secure lives.
