Research Methodology Workshop On Empowering Scholars for an Effective Research Design

Recognizing this need of the hour, Centre for Research andDevelopment at Besant Evening College has launched a unique program to providethe much needed thrust to research activities in the fields of social sciencesand allied area through an intensive three-day National level research methodologyworkshop on the theme ‘Empowering Scholars for an effective Research Design’for Teachers, PhD Scholars and Post graduate students (25-27 April,2016). The workshop covers the basics of research methodology focusing ontheoretical and practical inputs. The main areas included are; Formulation of research problem, Preparationof research proposal – giving basic training on how to conceive a soundresearch proposal. Conducting literature review, presenting the references, Formulation of research hypotheses and testing of hypotheses, Questionnaire design, Data collection methods, Determining the sample size, Data analysis- Application of appropriate statistical tests, How to avoid plagiarism and Report writing. Theworkshop is designed to offer the practical sessions for data analysis. Handson sessions will be conducted using statistical package- SPSS.

Another chief guest,Dr. Ashalatha K from Justice K S Hegde Institute of management, Nitte releasedthe in house journal ‘global research review’ and said that research is closelyrelated with academic issues. We cannot change the past but we can change thefuture and it is possible only through quality research. The researchmethodology workshop of this kind will definitely improve the quality ofresearch.
