On November 15th, 2024, Ms. Nishmitha K from the Kannada Department hosted a guest lecture by Kannada activist and former principal of Sri Ramashrama PU College Mangalore, Prof. Subhashchandra Kanvatheertha, as part of the Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. The event was attended by students, and staff, who were eager to hear his insights on the significance of Kannada culture and language. Prof. Subhashchandra Kanvatheertha began his talk by highlighting the historical significance of Kannada Rajyotsava and the struggles involved in unifying Kannada-speaking regions to form the state of Karnataka in 1956. He emphasized the beauty and richness of the Kannada language, which boasts a literary history of over 2,000 years, including eight Jnanpith Award winners.He stressed the importance of using Kannada in daily life, including education, business, and technology, to ensure its growth and relevance. Dr. Prasanna Kumar MG, the IQAC Co-coordinator , spoke to the audience and emphasized the value of the Kannada language in Karnataka.
