International Matrubhasha Divas 2022

International mother tongue day (Matrubhasha Divas) was celebrated in the college on 21/2/22. International Mother Language Day is an annual observance worldwide on 21 February to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and to promote multilingualism. It was First announced by UNESCO on 17 November 1999 and was formally recognized by the UN General Assembly in 2002. Mother Language Day is part of a broader initiative “to promote the preservation and protection of all languages used by peoples of the world” as adopted by the UN General Assembly on 16 May 2007. Dr Meenakshi, former professor in the Dept of Kannada of Besant Women’s College was the resource person. In her address she spoke about the significance of the celebration of the matru bhasha divas. Principal of the college Dr. Lakshminarayana Bhat A, introduced the resource person and extended formal welcome to the resource person and the gathering. Union advisor, Mr. Gopala Reddi Ritti was present. Ms Nishmitha, Asst Professor of kannada proposed vote of thanks.
