A Presentation on Ethics in Research Writings

The Research and Development Cellhas organized a talk on the theme “Ethics in Research Writings” on 27 Aug,2016. Dr Gopakumar V, University Librarian, Goa University was the resourceperson. At the beginning of the programme, Principal of the College, Dr CarmelitaGoveas welcomed the guests and participants. Dr Vasappa Gowda introduced theguest to the gathering. The UGC sponsored National level seminar “Preparing 21stCitizens through Integration of Work Based Learning in Higher Education” washeld on 19th Aug, 2016. The proceeding of the conference wasreleased during the occasion. Mr Jnaneshwar spoke about the book. Dr Gopakumar started with thedefinition of research and how to frame research problem. While referring toresearch problem, he said that the researcher is in the dark room at thebeginning of his research and the research objectives and the hypotheses arethe torch lights to go ahead and find out the solution to complete the researchwork. He said that in research certain ethics should be followed to aqualitative research output. The lecture was an interactive session and theparticipants have very actively involved in the presentation. At the end of the session a livedemo was given using the references in the word text. Using the ‘References’ optionexisting on the ribbon bar of the word text, various patterns of presentationsof bibliographies, preparation of table content…etc were shown. The programme was attended by morethan 60 participants. At the end, Mrs Thara S Shetty proposed the vote ofthanks.
