SPECIAL TALK ON “FREEDOM OF SPEECH AND EXPRESSION – AN ANALYTICAL OVERVIEW”

A special talk on “Freedom of Speech and Expression – An Analytical Overview” was organised by Besant Evening College, Mangalore, in association with IQAC, on the occasion of Constitution Day. The programme was held on 3rd December 2025 at 6:00 PM in Room No. 11.

The event began with Ms. Ayath Nisma taking charge as the Master of Ceremony, smoothly conducting the proceedings. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by the Faculty Convenor, Mrs. Shwetha, who greeted the dignitaries, the resource person, and the participants.

The programme was held in the esteemed presence of the IQAC Coordinator, Dr. Prasanna Kumar MG, who also delivered the presidential address. In his address, he highlighted the significance of constitutional rights and the relevance of the topic in today’s democratic framework.

The resource person, Advocate Jeevan AM (BA, LLB), delivered an insightful and analytical talk on the concept of Freedom of Speech and Expression. He explained the constitutional provisions, reasonable restrictions, and important judicial interpretations associated with Article 19(1)(a). His session provided great clarity and understanding to the students.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Ms. Rachitha Shetty, who expressed gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, committee members, and attendees for making the programme a success.
