Special Lecture on ಅಬ್ಬಕ್ಕ @ 500” – Celebration of Abbakka Rani’s Legacy

The Department of Collegiate Education, Karnataka Rajya Mahavidyalaya Shikshaka Sangha (KRMSS), Mangalore Unit, in collaboration with Besant Evening College, Mangalore, organized a special program titled “ಅಬ್ಬಕ್ಕ @ 500” on 2nd September 2025 at 6:15 PM at the M.Com Auditorium, Besant Campus, Mangalore. This event was part of the 100 Universities Series – Episode 33, commemorating the 500th birth anniversary of the legendary freedom fighter Rani Abbakka, remembered for her heroic resistance against colonial powers.

The program was presided over by Smt. Lalitha Mallya, Correspondent, Besant Evening College, Mangalore. The inauguration was carried out by Sri Ravichandra, Advocate, Mangalore.

Dr. Parashurama G. Malage, Principal, Besant Evening College, extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries and the gathering.

The Resource Person for the event was Smt. Vijayalakshmi Kateel, Teacher and Writer, who delivered an insightful talk on Rani Abbakka’s courage, patriotism, and historical importance. The program was further enriched by the honourable presence of Prof. Rajashekar Hebbar, Administrative Officer, Besant Institutions, who shared his valuable thoughts.

In her presidential address, Smt. Lalitha Mallya emphasized the relevance of Abbakka Rani’s fearless spirit and her role in inspiring future generations. The program was compered successfully by Ms. Mamatha. The program was successfully organized with the support of Karnataka Rajya Mahavidyalaya Shikshaka Sangha (KRMSS), Mangalore Unit, the Kannada Department, and the enthusiastic participation of students.

The celebration was a fitting tribute to Rani Abbakka’s indomitable bravery and her unwavering love for freedom, leaving the audience inspired by her timeless legacy.
