Kanakadasa Jayanti Celebration

The Department of Kannada and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Besant Sandhya College jointly organized a special lecture program on the occasion of Kanakadasa Jayanti on November 8, 2025.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Nishmitha K., Head of the Department of Kannada, said that Kanakadasa was not merely a devotional poet but also a strong voice for social justice and humanism. She added that Kanakadasa Jayanti is not just a celebration, but an inspiration for positive thinking.

After offering floral tributes to the portrait of Kanakadasa, she addressed the students, highlighting that Kanakadasa, one of the foremost Haridasas, made significant contributions to Kannada literature. His thoughts serve as guiding lights for social reform. Through his teachings, he showed how to live truthfully and treat everyone with humanity, making his ideals a mirror for the present generation.

She further expressed that remembering this great saint-poet who sowed the seeds of devotion and humanity in people’s hearts should inspire humankind toward a positive and righteous life.

The program was attended by Principal Dr. Parashurama G. Malage, faculty members, and students.

At the end of the event, Ms. Deeksha and Ms. Pratiksha melodiously rendered Kanakadasa’s devotional songs.
