Inauguration of Youth Red Cross Cell

The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Cell of Besant Evening College, Mangalore, was formally inaugurated in a vibrant ceremony held in the college I year BCom class room no. G3 on 29th September 2025. The event was organized under the guidance of the IQAC and the Youth Red Cross Unit, with the objective of instilling humanitarian values and social responsibility among students.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Anirudh Rai of Final Bcom student who extended cordial greetings to the dignitaries, faculty members, and students.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Ms. Deekshitha T.S., Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, and Youth Red Cross Programme Officer of Besant Women's College, who was the Chief Guest of the event. In her inspiring address, she emphasized the noble principles of the Red Cross Movement :- humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality. She encouraged the students to take active participation in humanitarian services and to develop empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility.

The event was presided over by Dr. Parashuram G. Malagae, Principal of Besant Evening College, who in his presidential remarks appreciated the initiative of establishing the YRC Cell. He highlighted the importance of youth engagement in social service and the crucial role of the Red Cross in promoting health awareness, disaster management, and community welfare.

Prof. Gopal Reddy Ritti, Head of the Department of Commerce, in his address, expressed his support for the YRC Cell’s mission and commended the faculty and students for their enthusiasm and commitment toward community-oriented programmes.

Mr. G. Harish Pai, Youth Red Cross Programme Officer of Besant Evening College, briefed the gathering about the objectives and planned activities of the YRC Cell. He motivated the students to uphold the principles of compassion, unity, and volunteerism that lie at the heart of the Red Cross Movement.

Mr. Diganth, Student Convener of the Youth Red Cross Cell, also shared his thoughts and expressed his dedication to leading the team in organizing meaningful service activities throughout the academic year.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Mr. Diganth, Student Convener of the Youth Red Cross Cell, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Guest, Principal, faculty members, and students for their encouragement and presence.
