Anti-Drug Cell organized a pledge taking ceremony

At Besant Evening College, in accordance with Government guidelines, the Anti-Drug Cell organized a pledge taking ceremony on Wednesday, 13th August 2025, at 6:00 p.m. to raise awareness among students about the dangers of drug abuse and its harmful effects. The event aimed to educate students on the destructive consequences of narcotics and the urgent need to curb drug misuse.

The program was coordinated by Dr. Prasanna Kumar M.G. and Ms. Reena D’Souza, Department of Commerce, who addressed the students. The Principal, Dr. Parashurama G. Malage, explained how drug addiction ruins health, future prospects, and family well-being. He urged students to stay away from such harmful substances and to help others avoid falling prey to these destructive habits.

Following the talks, Dr. Prasanna Kumar M.G. led all students and faculty in taking a pledge to say “No to Drugs” and to spread awareness among their peers.

During the program, valuable information was shared about the physical, psychological, and social damage caused by drug consumption. Afterwards, students, lecturers, and the principal together vowed not to use drugs, not to propagate them, and to actively create awareness in society.

This program proved both informative and meaningful, helping students understand the risks of substance abuse and the importance of living a wholesome, disciplined life, while encouraging them to spread awareness in the community.
